Matthew Yates modern, yet practical approach to hair has him made a very sought after hairstylist and educator for some of the most influential women in the nation. With over a decade of experience as a salon professional/owner,
he has established himself as an authority on multi-textured hair types.
Matthew began cultivating his career as a child while growing up in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, where his mother was a hairstylist and salon owner. While in high school, he began taking his interest in cosmetology more seriously and was often asked by classmates to style them for various school functions. Upon high school graduation, Matthew received a full scholarship from the National Cosmetology Association to pursue his studies at the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy. He graduated, and continued his education at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where he studied Marketing. While at Edinboro, Matthew's talent was quickly realized and recognized. It wasn't long before he decided to pursue hair full-time.
Matthew has dressed the tresses of various high profile people, including Liya Kebede and Laura Bush. He's worked on set for various television/stage productions and his work has been featured in WWD, Redbook, Lucky, Essence, Washingtonian, Washington Life, The Hill Rag, Washington Post Express, The Pittsburgh Magazine and Whirl.
Matthew has mastered the art of manipulating texture and believes that in order to achieve lavishly stylish hair, one must first begin with healthy hair and scalp. Matthew specializes in providing luxurious and effective conditioning treatments that assist in achieving beautiful hair. His in salon services include, but not limited to, cutting, coloring, relaxing, weaving, and Keratin treatments.
